On 8 June, the eve of the Pentecost, the alumni of Divine Word School in Estella (1969-1975 batch), celebrated their annual meeting. After the initial reception and usual greetings, we celebrated the Eucharist presided by Lorenzo Goyeneche. It was a moment of reflection in which the festivity of the Pentecost was inviting us to recognize the way the Spirit of the Word had penetrated our lives and to express our commitment wherever we are to build a more just and equitable society.
Bro. Oscar Gonzalez, the Mission Secretary, using the book 60 Years of the History of the Divine Word Editorial and the Magazine In the Family, presented the actual status, activities and the major challenges in the Society of Divine Word.
Afterward, we visited some of the departments as well as the gardens around the school premises. Later we visited the old school, now being used by the PROYECTO HOMBRE. Along the corridors, some of us could remember those years of human formation, vocational and professional studies of which all of us felt grateful and remembered with great joy.
After the sunset, we had dinner together in one of the restaurants in Estella and later a social gathering in which we discussed the importance of continuing to be united in the spirit of the Word and the favour of our friendship.
It makes us happy to see in our WhatsApp group many messages such as, “I have enjoyed so much but I would have wished we had more time to be able to share with every one of you”.
