Today, 1st of January, the Church celebrates the solemnity of Mary, mother of God. On this day, we celebrate as well, the world day for peace. In his homily this morning during Mass, the Pope Francis called on the world to redouble its efforts for peace.
“Peace is always possible, and we have to seek it”, he said. In his traditional noontime Angelus address on New Year`s Day, the Pope reiterated his call for peace. “May there never again be wars, but always the desire and commitment to peace and fraternity among peoples”. “Prayer is at the root of peace,” Pope Francis said. Last September, during the annual meeting, European Provincials and Zonal Coordinators of the Society of the Divine Word, after saying the prayer for peace released white doves before the missionary house in Nitra - Slovakia. We are called to be peacemakers and to build just peace. There is no doubt that it is only through peace we can bring development and prosperity. Bellow is the video of the short ceremony for peace.
