Ambassa (Tripura), 27 June, 2021: Holy Spirit Catholic Church in collaboration with ‘Oisho Bani Society’ a NGO, planted 500 saplings in 8 villages in Ambassa Sub-Division.
At the beginning of this month Diocese of Agartala intimated to all the parishes to observe environment day by planting saplings. The Social work wing of the Diocese ‘JUST’ conducted a webinar and on the occasion a Forest Department officer of Agartala spoke well about the initiative taken by the Diocese. He quoted a verse from the Bible, John 1:3 “Through him all thing were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
Bishop Lumen Monteiro gave introductory speech on the theme ‘Planting Trees, restoring hope’, he said, “Since the beginning trees have furnished us with two of life’s essentials, food and oxygen. He further urged, “We plant the right trees in the right places to safeguard biodiversity, protect nature, and fight climate change.” PPC of Ambassa decided to celebrate the green Sunday on 27th June. Prior to the event, leaders of the parish collected 500 saplings from the forest department and distributed to the villages to plant in different families.
