The SVD Generalate Leadership Team on Wednesday, 11th June began its semi-annual weeklong meeting called Caucus to evaluate and plan the activities. The meeting is held in Nemi, a beautiful town located about 50 km from Rome where the SVD have a retreat house.
In his welcome address, Fr. General Heinz Kulueke stressed that the most important thing for our SVD leadership “is to remain faithful to the Lord and to encourage confreres and people”. “For that, being close to confreres and to the people makes the difference”, he added.
The team is formed by 22 participants. Among them are Councillors, Zonal Coordinators, Secretaries, Coordinators of Dimensions and Areas and Staff Members. During his sharing Fr. General raised the following questions for the reflection of the participants that could be addressed also to the leadership of the entire Society: “How to get closer to the reality? What are the ways and means that help us to be close to the reality? What do people really need? What does the local church need? What can our internationality contribute for the universality of the church in helping our provinces to take the lead?” In order to reach these goals “dialogue is crucial and essential”, he said. He invited the leadership team “to get rid of the feeling that we are already doing enough” and look for ways “to think out of the box”. At the end he mentioned that the example of Pope Francis is an invitation to try new things.
During the meeting the Zonal Coordinators of the four SVD zones (AFRAM, ASPAC, EUROPE, and PANAM) and the Coordinators of the Dimensions (Communication, Bible, Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation, Formation and Mission) will present their reports followed by discussions. The team will be gathered until next Tuesday for reflection and discussion on various subjects and deliberations. “Greater efficiency of the Zonal Structures” will one among the many topics that they would discuss during these days.

Equipo General del Liderazgo Verbita inició el Caucus semestral
ElEquipo General del Liderazgo Verbita comenzó en el Miércoles, 11 de junio, su reunión semestral llamada Caucus para evaluar y planificar las actividades de los próximos meses. La reunión se celebró en Nemi, un lindo pueblo situado a unos 50 km de Roma, donde la SVD tiene una casa de retiro. En su discurso de bienvenida, el p. General planteó las siguientes preguntas para la reflexión de los participantes que pueden también ser dirigidas a los liderazgos de toda la Congregación: "¿Cómo acercarse a la realidad? ¿Cuáles son las formas y medios que nos ayudan a estar cerca de la realidad? ¿Qué es lo que la gente realmente necesita? ¿Qué necesita la iglesia local? ¿En qué aspectos nuestra internacionalidad puede aportar a la universalidad de la Iglesia y ayudar nuestras provincias a tomar la el liderazgo? "Para llegar a eso " el diálogo es fundamental y esencial ", dijo. Invitó el equipo de liderazgo "que abandonara la sensación de que ya estamos haciendo lo suficiente" y buscar una manera de pensar "fuera de la caja". Al final, Fr.
