On January, 13, 2014, in the chapel of St. Joseph Freinademetz community of Seoul, the newly appointed Regional Superior of Korea Region: Fr. Benedict Kim Jong Il (in photo, 4th from left), along with his new council were installed.
Fr. Peter Sam, new vice Superior Regional read the appointment letter from Generalate. Fr. Kim is the first native Korean to hold office as Regional Superior after 30 years of SVD presence in Korea. The SVD came to Korea in 1984, on the invitation of diocese of Suwon. The installation ceremony was part of the solemn mass attended by fellow SVDs, SSpS Sisters, and relatives and friends of the SVD. Fr. Dennis Callan, the outgoing Regional Superior thanked the SVDs for their efforts specially citing the senior members for their sacrifice and dedication. The new Regional Superior in his speech requested all the SVD members of the Region to work hard and build a better future for the SVD Region in the spirit of teamwork.
